Talas’ Glory to Shine with New Municipal Administrative Building – Deputy CM Ajit Pawar

Raigad/Alibag, Jan 2026: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar stated that the proposed administrative building of the Tala Municipal Council will enhance the city’s grandeur, be built to high standards with a future-oriented vision, and provide citizens with multiple services under a single roof. He added that the building will make administration more efficient, transparent, and citizen-friendly.

The groundbreaking ceremony of the new municipal administrative building, under the Urban Services and Facilities Scheme, was conducted in Tala by Deputy CM Pawar, who addressed the gathering on the occasion.

Also present were Minister for Women and Child Development Aditi Tatkare, MP Sunil Tatkare, former MLA Aniket Tatkare, Tala Municipal Council President Madhuri Gholap, Deputy President Chandrakant Rode, council members, District Collector Kishan Jawle, and Superintendent of Police Anchal Dalal among other dignitaries.

Deputy CM Pawar highlighted that the land is sanctified by the footsteps of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and holds special importance for Tala Taluka, which boasts a rich historical legacy. The Talagad Fort was a key center for surveillance and defense during the Maratha Empire. Today, the Tala region, enriched by history, is progressing on a new path of development, combining green agriculture, natural beauty, and community efforts. The region’s scenic beauty, including beaches, lush greenery, and monsoon waterfalls stretching across Sindhudurg, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Palghar, attracts tourists in large numbers.

The Deputy CM emphasized the state government’s focus on comprehensive development, progress, and solving citizens’ problems. Efforts are underway to provide employment for youth through industries and opportunities for women via self-help groups.

Under the CIIIT project, Tata and the state government are imparting modern education to youth, preparing them to embrace global trends such as AI, and ensuring that young people are ready for technological change.

He stated that the government has approved ₹8.50 crore for the construction of the Tala Municipal Council administrative building, with 50% of the funds already released. The building will be of high quality, and all citizen services must be completed promptly, he instructed. Additionally, ₹1 crore has been approved for the renovation of the Chandika Mata Temple, the village deity.

Minister Aditi Tatkare added that after being given the opportunity as a State Minister in 2019, she secured a ₹13 crore water supply scheme from Wavre Dam for Tala city, which will provide clean water to the entire city within six months. She also confirmed that ₹85 lakh has been allocated for the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj temple in Pusati village, Tala Taluka, and that efforts are underway at the state level to facilitate the development of Talagad Fort in coordination with the Archaeology Department and Cultural Affairs Ministry.

MP Sunil Tatkare noted concerns regarding citizen migration from Tala Taluka, but added that future industrial development in the region will address this challenge.

The ceremony also included a groundbreaking for Modi Talav beautification under the 2024–25 Regional Tourism Development Scheme, with a large turnout of Tala Municipal Council citizens witnessing the event.
