All Workplaces Urged to Register on SHEBOX Portal to Ensure Women’s Safety
Mumbai, Jan 2026: To ensure the safety of women at workplaces, the Central Government has launched the SHEBOX portal, and it is mandatory for all establishments to register their offices on this platform. The District Women and Child Development Officer (Mumbai Suburban), S.T. Kurhade, has appealed to all establishments in Mumbai Suburban to promptly register on the portal and provide updated details of their internal committees as well as office information.
Under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, every establishment with 10 or more employees is required to set up an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC). According to Section 19 of the Act, the responsibility for compliance rests with the head of the office. Any office failing to establish the committee or violating the provisions of the Act may be liable to a penalty of up to ₹50,000 under Section 26.
