Delhi CM Atishi and Arvind Kejriwal Pay Tribute to Dr. Manmohan Singh

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal paid heartfelt tributes to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, who passed away at 92. Remembering Singh as a brilliant economist and statesman, Atishi praised his pivotal role in shaping India’s economic trajectory during the 1990s and described him as a leader of quiet strength and unwavering integrity.

Arvind Kejriwal also conveyed his condolences, highlighting Singh’s transformative economic reforms that modernized India. “Dr. Singh was a visionary leader whose humility and dedication left a lasting impact on countless lives,” Kejriwal shared on X.

Dr. Manmohan Singh, India’s 13th Prime Minister (2004–2014), was instrumental in implementing the landmark 1991 economic liberalization reforms during his tenure as Finance Minister. These reforms opened India to foreign investments, propelling economic growth. Under his leadership, the government introduced key legislations, including the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act and the Right to Information Act, benefiting millions across the country.

Singh passed away at AIIMS, Delhi, due to age-related ailments. A renowned economist and former Reserve Bank of India governor, Singh retired from the Rajya Sabha earlier this year, concluding a distinguished public service career.

The former Prime Minister’s mortal remains will be available for public homage at the All India Congress Committee headquarters on Saturday morning, followed by cremation near Rajghat.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed condolences, recognizing Singh’s monumental contributions to India’s development. AAP MP Sanjay Singh described his passing as a significant loss, praising his legacy as a great economist and a model of honesty in politics.

Dr. Manmohan Singh’s life and work remain a testament to visionary leadership and selfless service to the nation.
