Ensure Effective Implementation of Water Supply Schemes – Minister of State Meghna Sakore-Bordikar

Mumbai : Minister of State for Water Supply and Sanitation, Meghna Sakore-Bordikar, has directed officials to ensure the effective implementation of water supply and sanitation schemes across the state.

A review meeting of the Water Supply and Sanitation Department was held under her chairmanship at HSBC Fort, Mumbai, where detailed discussions took place on the implementation of various schemes in the sector.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Sanjay Khandare, Director E. Ravindran, Joint Secretary B.G. Pawar, Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran’s Ajay Singh, along with Chief Engineer and Special Executive Officer Prashant Bhambare and other senior officials from the ministry.

Minister Sakore-Bordikar emphasized the need to adopt modern technology to improve water supply and sanitation management in both rural and urban areas. Discussions were held on new policies to effectively implement sanitation campaigns across the state. She also directed officials to focus on maintenance measures for public toilets.

She highlighted the need for water conservation projects to maximize water storage during the monsoon and stressed the implementation of rainwater harvesting systems in villages. Additionally, she instructed authorities to take urgent measures to address water scarcity in drought-prone areas, including supplying water through tankers, digging new wells, and increasing water sources.

The review also covered planning and implementation of village-level water supply schemes and assessed ongoing efforts to resolve drinking water issues in rural areas. Discussions were held on expanding pipeline networks to reach remaining villages and the overall progress of water supply projects in the state.
