Tamil Nadu CM M.K. Stalin Inaugurates Higher Education Infrastructure Projects Worth ₹120.54 Crores

Chennai : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thiru M.K. Stalin today inaugurated various educational infrastructure projects under the Higher Education Department, built at a cost of ₹120.54 crores. The event took place at the Secretariat.

These projects include classroom buildings, laboratory buildings, indoor sports arenas, sanitation facilities, hostels, and other college buildings for government arts and science colleges, polytechnic colleges, engineering colleges, and universities. The Tamil Nadu government is implementing several initiatives to enhance higher education, ensuring research advancements, innovation, technological growth, and employability. The “Naan Mudhalvan” scheme focuses on skill development, while schemes like “Pudhumai Penn” and “Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Higher Education Assurance Scheme” provide ₹1,000 monthly financial assistance to female students from government schools pursuing higher education. These efforts have positioned Tamil Nadu at the top rank in higher education in India.

The newly inaugurated projects include:

  • Government Arts & Science Colleges:
    • Coimbatore (Puliyakulam): ₹12.90 crores
    • Karur (Ragampatti) & Rameswaram (Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam College): ₹12.46 crores
    • Krishnagiri (Uthangarai): ₹14.74 crores
  • Government Polytechnic Colleges (Indoor Sports Arenas):
    • Salem: ₹8.65 crores
    • Coimbatore: ₹8.54 crores
    • Tiruchirappalli: ₹8.56 crores
    • Thanjavur: ₹8.59 crores
  • Hostel & Library Buildings:
    • Pudukkottai (Mannar College – Digital Library): ₹6 crores
    • Tiruchirappalli (Bharathidasan University – Women’s Hostel): ₹8.83 crores
  • Polytechnic & Engineering Colleges (Classrooms, Labs, and Sanitation Facilities):
    • Mayiladuthurai (Puthur – Srinivasa Subbaraya Polytechnic): ₹4.59 crores
    • Bargur (Govt. Engineering College): ₹4 crores
    • Krishnagiri (Government Polytechnic College): ₹2.68 crores
    • Madurai (Meenakshi Govt. Women’s College): ₹3.80 crores
    • Theni (Andipatti – Govt. Arts & Science College): ₹3.70 crores
