Review Meeting of Budget Year 2025-26: Welfare of the Poor, Farmers, Women, and Youth Is the Focus of Our Budget.
Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma Directs: Complete Budget Announcements in Phased and Timely Manner; Ensure Quality in Construction Works; Assign Clear Responsibilities to Officials
Jaipur : Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma said that all necessary provisions have been made in the Budget 2025-26 to accelerate the vision of a “Developed Rajasthan.” Our budget embodies the welfare of 8 crore people of the state and the comprehensive development of all 200 constituencies, enabling the state to become a $350 billion economy by 2030. He directed officials that all departments must work in coordination to complete budgetary provisions within the stipulated time frame.
Shri Sharma was addressing a review meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence on Tuesday regarding the phased and integrated implementation of budget announcements for the year 2025-26. He instructed officials that any work whose foundation stone is laid during our government’s tenure must also be inaugurated within the same tenure; hence, all announcements must be completed on time. He added that each department should prepare a work plan with clear timelines for each phase of the projects and act accordingly. He warned that strict action would be taken against any officials found negligent at any level. Shri Sharma stated that the state government is regularly monitoring the progress of budget announcements to ensure timely delivery of these public welfare schemes to the intended beneficiaries.
Strengthen Infrastructure; Ensure Transparency and Accountability in Construction
Emphasizing transparency and accountability in construction works, the Chief Minister said that robust infrastructure is the backbone of the state’s economy. He stressed that no compromise should be made on quality at any level. He directed that physical verification of road construction work must be carried out without fail. Additionally, laying of electricity, water, and sewer lines should be coordinated among departments to ensure that the public does not face any inconvenience in transportation. Shri Sharma also instructed that land allocation for new GSS (Gas Supply System) projects be completed promptly.
Rajasthan’s Villages Will Be Free of Poverty
Shri Sharma said that under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the state government is committed to uplifting the poor, youth, farmers, and women. To realize the vision of a poverty-free Rajasthan, the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Poverty-Free Village Scheme has been launched. In its first phase, effective measures are being taken to lift below-poverty-line (BPL) families in 5,000 villages above the poverty line. He directed that these families should be provided benefits from central and state schemes to free them from poverty. He also instructed that youth be provided skill training for employment and women be connected to self-help groups under Rajeevika.
Well-Planned Urban Development
The Chief Minister noted that, following the central government’s Smart City Mission, 16 cities in the state have been declared for development as clean and green cities in the budget. He said that initiatives such as cleanliness drives, afforestation, footpath construction, and beautification should be carried out in a planned manner to develop these cities as models. He added that waste-processing plants and FSTPs (Faecal Sludge Treatment Plants) should also be established soon in the newly formed 65 urban local bodies.
Promotion of Tourism Through Expanded Air Connectivity
Shri Sharma stated that Rajasthan offers immense tourism potential with its world-renowned religious and historical sites. To boost tourism, it is necessary to strengthen air connectivity. He directed that helipads be developed across the state and helicopter services launched to major tourist and religious destinations. This will not only benefit tourists but also increase state revenue.
Accelerate Construction of 100 Anicuts
The Chief Minister said that to promote water conservation, 100 anicuts (small dams) will be constructed at a cost of ₹500 crore. He instructed officials to expedite this work. He also said that detailed project reports (DPRs) for budgetary projects that have not yet been prepared should be completed in phases at the earliest so that work begins promptly and is finished within the defined timeframe.
Shri Sharma directed strengthening of the information technology system to enhance efficiency and responsiveness in departments such as Mining, Police, and Medical Services. Reviewing the budget announcement for the upgradation of 100 schools by the School Education Department, he said that smart classrooms should be developed in schools to provide students with virtual learning facilities.
The Chief Minister said that “Shri Anna” (fortified rice) is an excellent option from a nutritional perspective. He gave instructions for its effective marketing and promotion, noting that it will strengthen the economic condition of farmers.
