Successful Liver Transplant Surgery of Little Devanshi through Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Fund

Mumbai, Aug 2025 : With the help of the Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Fund, a successful liver transplant surgery was recently performed on seven-year-old Devanshi Ravindra Gawande, a resident of Mangrulpir taluka in Washim district.

The expensive surgery was made possible under the guidance of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis through the initiative of the Chief Minister’s Assistance Fund and the Charitable Hospital Help Desk. Devanshi’s parents expressed their gratitude, stating that the surgery was a life-saving blessing for their daughter.

In January 2025, Devanshi, daughter of Ravindra Gawande (resident of Varud Bu.), began suffering from severe abdominal pain. She was taken for medical checkups in Akola and later Nagpur. Specialist doctors diagnosed her liver as being critically damaged and advised an urgent liver transplant. The estimated cost of the surgery was around ₹15 lakh.

Her father, who makes a living by selling vegetables, was unable to gather such a huge sum. At this difficult time, he learned about the Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Fund and sought help from the cell. He also appealed for support through social media. With the fund’s intervention, Devanshi’s treatment began at Wadia Hospital in Mumbai. Financial assistance was arranged through contributions from the CM’s Medical Assistance Fund, Tata Trust, social organizations, and the local villagers.

Her mother, Meenakshi Gawande, donated a part of her liver to save her daughter. On July 7, 2025, Devanshi successfully underwent the transplant surgery. Her condition is now stable and improving steadily. On August 3, 2025, her parents were able to celebrate her birthday with immense relief and joy. They expressed heartfelt gratitude, saying that their daughter got a new lease on life thanks to the support of the CM’s Fund and Tata Trust.

The Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Fund Cell emphasized: “Our aim is to ensure that every needy and poor patient receives timely treatment through this fund. Devanshi’s case is a shining example of this mission. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the district cell is actively working to support poor and underprivileged patients across the state. This initiative is proving to be a lifeline for many common citizens.”
