Israeli Airstrike Hits Gaza School, Over 100 Killed

In a recent escalation of violence, more than 100 people have been killed and dozens injured following an Israeli airstrike on the al-Taba’een school in Gaza City’s Daraj area. The school, which was serving as a shelter for displaced Palestinians, was struck by three missiles on Saturday, according to Gaza’s civil defense agency.

The Israeli military confirmed the attack, stating that the school was targeted due to its use as a Hamas command center. This strike is part of Israel’s broader campaign against Hamas infrastructure, which it alleges is deliberately located in civilian areas. Earlier in the week, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) reported targeting other Hamas command centers within two additional schools in Gaza City.

The bombing has provoked widespread condemnation and heightened international concern over the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The region, heavily bombarded, has seen significant civilian casualties and infrastructure destruction. Essential facilities such as schools, hospitals, and residential buildings have been hit, worsening the dire conditions for the already vulnerable population.

This incident is part of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, marked by frequent cycles of violence. The situation remains highly volatile, with both sides continuing their attacks, resulting in significant loss of life and deepening the humanitarian crisis. The international community is urging for de-escalation and civilian protection, but the conflict shows no immediate signs of resolution.
