River-Themed Alphabet Makes Learning Hindi and English Engaging for Students
Raipur : Schoolchildren in tribal areas are now learning subjects like mathematics, science, Hindi, and English through smart TVs and an innovative, river-themed alphabet. In the remote regions of Dhamtari district, teaching is being conducted using smart TVs in 157 schools. This initiative is not only enhancing students’ ability to learn but is also providing them with an enriched learning environment.
Children in these tribal areas are being taught the alphabet and geography in engaging ways. A special alphabet has been developed using the names of 111 rivers from five different countries to make learning more interesting. To foster environmental awareness, students are also being involved in activities like tree plantation and water conservation.
This educational transformation was initiated by Mrs. Ranjita Sahu, a teacher at the Government Primary School in Luge (Magarlod block), along with her husband Mr. Tuman Chand Sahu. Their efforts have brought about a positive shift in the educational landscape of the region.
Dhamtari Collector Mr. Avinash Mishra recognized and honored the teacher couple for their innovative work. He praised the initiative as an outstanding example of innovation in education. He commended the Sahus for making education engaging and effective for children despite limited resources.
The river-themed alphabet has already been distributed to around 11,000 students. With support from the community and 50% cost-sharing, smart TVs have been installed in 111 schools so far. Efforts are also being made to involve students in physical, mental, and creative activities.
Additionally, the teacher couple has launched a tree plantation drive in schools. So far, around 1,100 trees and over 3,000 herbal plants have been planted. They have also provided schools with presentations based on Smart Mathematics, English, and Hindi alphabets. This innovation has infused new energy into the education system of Dhamtari district and could serve as an inspiration for other districts across the state.
