Government Departments Should Effectively Implement Schemes for Minorities – Divisional Commissioner Dr. Nidhi Pandey
Amravati : Government departments should ensure the effective implementation of various schemes for minorities initiated by the Central and State Governments, and provide the benefits to the eligible recipients within the stipulated time, directed Divisional Commissioner Dr. Nidhi Pandey.
Dr. Pandey reviewed various educational, social, and economic schemes for minorities in a meeting held at the Divisional Commissioner’s office today. Present at the meeting were Deputy Commissioner (General Administration) Sanjay Pawar, Regional Deputy Commissioner of Social Welfare Sunil Ware, Deputy Commissioner of Skill Development Employment and Entrepreneurship Department Dattatray Thackeray, Special Officer of the Planning Department Sushil Agrekar, Assistant Director of the Technical Education Department Manoj Andhare, Assistant Director of the Vocational Education and Training Department R.M. Lokhande, Assistant Director of the Education Deputy Director’s Office Anil Kolhe, Assistant Director of the Urban Development Department Shyamkant Maske, and representatives from the office of the Special Inspector General of Police, among others.
Dr. Pandey emphasized that all government departments in the Amravati division should disseminate information about the various schemes being implemented for the educational, economic, and social upliftment of minority youth under the Prime Minister’s 15-Point Program. This information should reach the eligible minority beneficiaries to ensure they can avail of these schemes. She stressed the importance of making conscious efforts to bring about positive changes in the lives of minority youth by understanding their difficulties and integrating them into the mainstream society.
Dr. Pandey instructed that there should be extensive awareness campaigns in Muslim-majority areas to inform the residents about the Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme, the Begum Hazrat Mahal Scheme for girls, and other schemes implemented by the Skill Development Department, Education Department, and Vocational Education Department. These schemes should be effectively implemented to achieve the educational, economic, and social advancement of minority youth.
The Divisional Commissioner also reviewed and provided guidance on the schemes being run by various departments such as School Education, Sports, Higher and Technical Education, Public Health, Skill Development, Urban Development, and Social Justice for the benefit of the minority community.
She further added that the Education Department should work on preventing dropout rates among minority students and expedite the approval process for their scholarship applications. Basic and infrastructural facilities such as good roads, electricity, water, schools, health centers, and anganwadi centers should be made available in minority-dominated areas. Regular job fairs should be organized to provide employment opportunities for the unemployed. Necessary facilities should be provided to madrasas for quality education. The Police Department should conduct meetings of the Communal Harmony Committees and Mohalla Committees to maintain communal harmony and guide the concerned individuals, Dr. Pandey concluded.
