Union Minister Shekhawat Tastes Watermelon with Farmers During Pokaran Visit; Attends Condolence Gatherings
Jaipur, Sept 2025: Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, visited the Pokaran Assembly constituency in Jaisalmer district on Saturday. While traveling from Jhabra to Ola via Rajgarh, farmers working in the fields invited him to taste locally grown watermelons. Shri Shekhawat enjoyed the juicy and sweet watermelon alongside the farmers, saying, “There is a special joy in eating watermelons freshly plucked from the field. This is the real sweetness and warmth of our soil.”
The Minister started his journey from Jodhpur by road, receiving a warm welcome at Setarawa. At Kalao Phanta on the Jaisalmer border, he was enthusiastically greeted by Pokaran MLA Mahant Pratap Puri, local workers, and villagers. He also met villagers along the way, listened to their concerns, and engaged in informal discussions.
Shri Shekhawat also attended several condolence gatherings, expressing sympathy for the passing of community members, including relatives of social worker Samandar Singh, former sarpanch Ram Singh, and Hem Singh Ola’s father, Thakur Tej Singh. MLA Mahant Pratap Puri, social worker Dalpat Hingad, former MLA Shaitan Singh, Sankda Pradhan Bhagwat Singh, and other officials and villagers were present.
