Discipline and Punctuality Are the Keys to Success: Governor Ramen Deka
Governor attends the 5th Convocation Ceremony of Kalinga University
Raipur, Nov 2025: Governor Mr. Ramen Deka attended the 5th Convocation Ceremony of Kalinga University held at Nava Raipur on Wednesday. He congratulated and extended best wishes to all the students who received degrees and medals for their academic achievements.
Addressing the graduating students, Governor Deka said, “If you remain disciplined and punctual, success will surely follow. Remember, this is not the end of your journey — it’s just a milestone. Don’t give up when you fall; rise again and move forward.”
Learn from the Past and Plan Your Future with Purpose
The Governor awarded degrees and medals to students from the batches of 2023, 2024, and 2025. During the ceremony, 150 researchers were conferred Ph.D. degrees, 1,500 students received postgraduate degrees, and 2,500 students were awarded undergraduate degrees.
On this occasion, Governor Deka also planted a tree on campus in his mother’s name as a symbol of gratitude and sustainable growth.
He said, “Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in your lives — one that will involve challenges and perseverance. Learn from the experiences of the past, plan your future carefully, and move forward with a clear vision. Whatever field you choose, live your life with joy. Along with material success, mental peace is equally important.”
“Be a Guru, Not Just a Teacher”: Governor’s Message to Educators
Governor Deka emphasized the significant role of educators under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, stating that there should be continuous dialogue between teachers and students.
He said, “Teachers must understand that there is a difference between being a teacher and a guru. The word guru carries a deeper meaning — it signifies guidance through wisdom and experience. Become gurus, not mere instructors, and guide the youth with your knowledge and values.”
He urged universities to maintain a positive academic environment, promote innovation, and collaborate with government initiatives supporting research and creative development.
The Governor also highlighted the importance of maintaining balance between humans, animals, and nature, saying, “Our existence depends on this balance. Sustainable development must be our shared goal — and every individual should plant a tree in their mother’s name.”
He added, “You are the future of this nation. Your contribution will help India become a five-trillion-dollar economy.”
“Encourage Creativity and Innovation,” says Higher Education Minister
State Higher Education Minister Mr. Tankaram Verma, who also addressed the gathering, said that youth play the most crucial role in nation-building. He encouraged students to nurture their creativity and apply it towards innovation.
He added that the Government of Chhattisgarh has introduced several policy initiatives to empower youth, which will open new opportunities for them in the coming years.
The event was attended by Prof. V.K. Goyal, Chairperson of the State Private Universities Regulatory Commission; Mr. Rajeev Kumar, Chairperson of Kalinga University; Mr. Sandeep Arora, Chancellor; Mr. R. Sridhar, Vice Chancellor; Mr. Sajjan Singh, Pro Vice Chancellor; the Registrar, members of the Kalinga University Management Board, Heads of Departments, faculty members, students, and their parents.
